you know it's a good coming-of-age story when you're not really shipping any couple, just rooting for them to be happy

art school SoL is a truly underrated genre. love how everyone has their own thing: pottery, sculpting, architecture, etc., but they're all connected by their love for creating thingsalso: megumi seki as ayumi is casting perfection

Where had the sparkling sea gone? I can’t run away. If I run now, it will erase everything... even meeting you...
this is one of the most beautiful movies I’ve ever seen in my life... I shelved it for a while because I wasn’t really ready to watch it again but every time I go back to it the soundtrack and the composition of the shots absolutely astound me. sakurai sho really grows into takemoto as the movie progresses. the way the film addresses growing up and the difficulty that comes with pursuing art in any facet is unique and delicate and I love the way everything is wrapped up in the last 20 minutes. even with the rocky translations I think the message comes through and I just love this film so much.

"the world i could never see, no matter how i strained, unrealized dreams and longings. i wonder how the world looks, seen through their eyes."
— "why do people draw pictures?"
— "because we want to. because we have to draw. that's... like asking people why they live."i love art. i love being born into this world as an art and artist. i love the world i live in. i love the people i surround with. i love the artists i meet. i love creating. i love being able to see and feel someone through what they create. i love painting. i love drawing. i love colors. i love listening to music. i love crafting. i love watching films.…
